![]() I can rev the motor and watch it engage but you can just barely feel the boost at lower engine speeds while driving. For some reason the supercharger doesnt seem to boost very much. fully up on service according to MB dealer. Hello guys I have a 98 SLK230 137k miles on it. Any idea who would do that sort of thing - would it just be a machine shop Thanks. Its always amazing to me what can be found on eBay Portedpolished sounds like an intriguing idea. Yep - Im definitely taking it to my independent mechanic. Here ya go - eBay Motors mercedes Benz W203 C240 C320 C32 AMG supercharger (item 260096091194 end time Mar-18-07 223309 PDT) Since the dealership operates with a conflict of interestyou would be wise to be leary of their suggestions. It appears to me that recall campaigns pull in a lot of owners who would otherwise avoid a dealership. HEXI think you did the right thing to hold off.Take it to a good local independent for a second opinion. After allit could be just a bearing. It depends on if its affecting your drivability as even if it gets worse you have nothing to lose. As for if you really need to do it thats a tough question. Also you can take yours and have it rebuilt maybe have it portedpolished for additional performance. List price on the sc is 3040 Duval has it for 2280 and you can probably get a remanufactured or used unit for much cheaper. Anybody know if this is dangerous not to fix immediately Thanks. I told him Ill live with the rattle for a while. The service guy just called and said there was a rattle coming from the supercharger and the only way to fix it is to replace the supercharger for 3700. Took my 32 in for the 2 recalls and of course they checked it out for other problems. MERCEDES BENZ SLK R170 3700 bucks to replace a rattling supercharger This is a common SC for many types of cars so If you can identify the type you have you could find more info online searching under Eaton supercharger (model) than searching for mercedes folks who have rebuilt theirs. Not sure about the cause of the noise but the superchargers are made by Eaton but I think they used a couple different models depending on the year or at least thats speculated here. I am really short on money because I am doing a lot of work on my car now like (installing new brakes and bleeding coolant water change and transmission fluid change) so I am really trying my best to save time and money. Some people bought rebuilt ones and others took the whole thing out and rebuilt it. Thanks for the replies guys I read many articles here on the forum about this kind of supercharger. The later slks are clutchless and you cant use them. I found a complete supercharger with clutch from a wrecked slk with 20000 miles on it. I think I was researching how to do a service for the SC oil when I was looking. Try searching supercharger clutch or supercharger oil etc. Sorry I dont know the title of the specific post but I do remember finding one using the search last week that showed someones clutch that had gone bad and I believe it showed the bearings. I started working on it yesterday I took out the air filter box and other hoses to get very close to the sc. The pulley spins freely and smoothly when not engaged and when the car is idling. It seems to function well but it just makes these annoying noises when it is engaged. The supercharger has been making rattling and grinding noises for a while now. Hello everyone I have c230 kompressor 2000. Ok ive started the engine with the hood open and i can hear a noise on acceleration and deceleration, ill describe it best i can, it is coming from just behind the oil filler (grey rocker cover between the radiator and the oil filler, that area of the rocker cover, not the red rocker cover area) i would describe it as a slack chain type of noise, i say this because the timing chain on bikes sounds like this when the cam chain adjuster is wore out, is this normal? I think the car will need to be under load for it to leak real pressure, there is no obvious hiss.MERCEDES BENZ CLASS C I 202 M62 Supercharger question Rattling and Grinding when engaged. Would it be intermitant though, if its a split pipe on the S/C, with your suggestions of diagnosis that is, if it is leaking some were, would it give me an engine light? Surely there is a sensor monitoring the pressure? If the S/C is worn or wearing out would that give me low pressure and make it loose power with no engine light? I need to sort this out, my last bill for the air injection valve and to wipe the code and reset the engine management was £240!! Is there a work shop manual (book is better IMO) i need to get my overalls on and the jack out and start testing bits!
